These photographs come from a scrapbook from the Halstead Hospital in Halstead, Kansas. The hospital was founded in 1902 by Dr. Arthur E. Hertzler. The photographs in this scrapbook depict doctors and nurses going about their jobs at the hospital. There are also photographs of staff members of the hospital and photographs depicting everyday life around the hospital. An interesting note in some of the photographs depicting surgical operations, you can see some doctors and nurses not wearing masks, a practice that is required today. Digitization funded by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission through the Kansas State Historical Records Advisory Board.
