A letter on May 18, 1878, from H. W. Beatty, County Clerk, asks if Charles Taylor is still entitled as Reno County Surveyor if he resides in Iuka, Kansas. A letter certifying that Charles A. Taylor has moved from Reno County and now resides in Iuka, Pratt County. A petition asks that Thomas C. Austin be appointed Surveyor caused by the vacancy in the office due to the removal of Charles A. Taylor as County Surveyor of Reno County. A letter on August 24, 1878, from H. S. Fitch, County Clerk, states the people believe there was a misappropriation of funds of Reno County.
