A letter from S. Wilcox on August 27, 1877, invites Kansas Governor Anthony to attend a meeting in the city of Elmore on September 13 in regard to lands held by the Railroad Companies. A letter on August 7, 1877, from the Board of County Commissioners, appoints Alfred Meier as County Engineer. A letter on February 2, 1878, from Thomas Ping, states Willis R. VanFrank is an applicant for the position of County Surveyor and recommends him for the commission. A petition from residents of Crawford County recommend and request Albert Allen as a qualified person to fill the vacancy as Surveyor. A letter of resignation on February 9, 1878, from R. D. McCord as Probate Judge of Clay Center. Additional documents also pertain to similar matters of resignations, appointments, and concerns relating to counties in and around Allen and Davis, Kansas.
