This set of colored transparencies show the "Spirit of 1776" patriotic train in Richmond, California. In November of 1972, the train left from Richmond, California and traveled across the county celebrating American's Bicentennial, ending it's destination in Richmond, Virginia in October of 1976. The event was organized by the Santa Fe, Seaboard Coast Line (SCL), and Frisco railroads and featured a U36B engine, two Santa Fe exhibition cars and a St. Louis-San Francisco Railway (Frisco) caboose.
