This photograph of a painting shows Lawrence Dudley Bailey, (1819-1891). He is appointed justice to the Kansas Supreme Court serving from 1861 to 1869. During his tenure as a justice Bailey was instrumental in organizing the Kansas State Agriculture Society and advocating for the establishment of the State Normal School in Emporia, Kansas.
