One folder of school land purchase records from the Barton County Clerk's Office. The Barton County Clerks office files contain certificates of purchase, notarized payment charts, renewal certificates of purchase, and notes documenting individuals purchasing school lands in Barton County, Kansas. The records state the name of purchaser, land description with section, township, and range coordinates, amount sold for, payment information, and general terms of sale. The land was sold by Barton County pursuant a February 22, 1864 "act to provide for the sale of school lands." The records are notarized by the county clerk. The files are organized by date and case.
