This photograph shows Bernard Emerson "Poco" Frazier, (1906-1976), copied from The Jayhawker, the University of Kansas yearbook. Born in the small town of Athol, Kansas near Smith Center, Kansas, Frazier became a renowned sculptor in the art world and professor of sculpture at KU. He received his formal training at the University of Kansas, from 1925 to 1929, as a design student. Frazier created several iconic pieces of art in the State of Kansas. He was commissioned to sculpt the Docking Building in Topeka with "cut-stone wall panels" and the ornamental bronze doors at the Campanile WWII memorial at KU. Before his death in 1976 at the age of sixty-nine, he was designing the allegorical statue titled "Justice", which stands in the foyer of the Kansas Judicial Center in Topeka, Kansas. Frazier is buried at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Athol, Kansas.
