The following documents are summons from Kansas Governor Anthony to the sheriffs of various counties to hold special elections for vacancies held in the Office of Senator of the different counties. Included is a letter to the sherriffs of Sumner, Sedgwick, Harper, Barbour, Pratt, Stafford, and Kingman counties. In the letter, Governor Anthony informs each of them that there is a recent vacancy in the Office of Senator of the 38th Senatorial District of Kansas. Anthony directs each county to give notice of a special election on Tuesday, November 5, 1878, to fill the vacancy. A separate letter from Kansas Governor Anthony to the sheriffs of Riley, Davis, and Dickinson counties informs there is a vacancy in the Office of Senator of the 30th Senatorial District of Kansas. In the letter, Anthony directs each county to hold a special election on November 5, 1878.
