This series of letters are pulled from the correspondence files of Kansas Governor John Pierce St. John. They are about the murder of James M. Cotton and the criminal James Jones. Included in the correspondence are signed petitions by concerned citizens sent to Governor St. John, who pleaded with him to assist them in apprehending the party or parties responsible for the murder.
