The letters in this file relate to the appointment of Commissioner of Deeds for the State of Kansas in other states. A letter on October 18, 1873, from Joseph B. Braman, requests the position as Commissioner of Deeds for Kansas in California. In the letter, Braman explains he is a practicing attorney and also Commissioner for Massachusetts. A letter on April 3, 1873, from Connecticut Governor Marshall Jewell, states his Secretary is interested in the position as Commissioner of Deeds and requests Governor Osborn appoint him the position. A petition on April 29, 1874, from citizens of Springfield, Missouri, recommends Colonel Charles Knobelsdorff as Commissioner of Deeds for Kansas.
