Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower was a soldier and politician who served as the thirty-fourth President of the United States, (1953-1961). As a solider he served as Supreme Commander of the Allied forces in Europe, (1944-45), and latter became the first Supreme Commander of NATO. During his administration as president, he ended the Korean War, launched the space race and developed the interstate highway system. He grew up in Abilene, Kansas.
