Topics included, but not limited to, in the correspondence is Mattie Marion being abandoned by her husband after moving to Missouri for him to return to Kansas, procedures to take her husband to court in Kinsley to support her and their child, and the role of the County and General Attorney and Governor in domestic cases. This is part of a bigger collection of Governor Arthur Capper correspondence.

This colored lithograph is a bird's eye view of Kinsley, Kansas, the county seat of Edwards County, Kansas. The Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad ran through the town. This lithograph was done in 1878, fairly early in the town's history. The streets are named but the structures are not identified. The business district is shown as well as at least one church and some homes. There is a herd of cattle in the lower right corner of the image. The Arkansas River is in the upper left corner of the the drawing. The lithograph was drawn by D. D. Morse and published by Lott & Zeuch Lithograph, Chicago, Illinois

Blizzard, Kinsley, Kansas
Date: February 25, 1912
This series of photographs represents the blizzard of 1912 in Kinsley, Kansas. The blizzard devastated the town with snow drifts of eight to ten feet, blocking roads and interrupting train service. The snow from the blizzard stayed through March with temperatures dropping to twenty degrees below zero throughout January and February of 1912.

This photograph shows Buford Brodbeck who operated City Cleaner at 222 E. 6th Street in Kinsley, Kansas. He opened the dry cleaning business on July 01, 1949. When he stared the business there were three dry cleaning business on main street. This image appeared with the article "Kinsley Pauses at the Crossroads" in the May-June 1988 issue of Farm Bureau News.

This photograph shows inmates Carl Arnold, prisoner #7158 and Frank Smith, prisoner #9623. Carl Arnold was received at the Kansas State Penitentiary on November 14, 1894 from Edwards County, Kansas. Inmate Frank Smith was received at the penitentiary on December 31, 1900 from Oklahoma. Both inmates were arrested for murder.
