19th Annual Convention of the National Association of Colored Women
Date: July 21-26, 1935
This panorama shows attendees of the convention of the National Association of Colored Women held July 21 to July 26, 1935. The signs on the building read "Mount Zion Temple" and "Mt. Zion Settlement School of Music, Kathleen Forbes." This appears to be Mt. Zion Congregational Church on E. 55th Street and Central Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio, where the organization held its 19th annual convention in 1935. Two women to the left side of the photo wear nursing uniforms. Three other women hold signs reading "Con" (presumably Connecticut), "Illinois," and "Ohio."

These three photographs show interior views of the A and B Drug Company located at 905 Broadway in Marysville, Kansas. The first photograph shows the display cases and shelves along the right side of the store. Magazines are visible in a rack on the right side of the picture, and various items are visible in the cases and on the shelves. A few tables and chairs are visible towards the back of the store, and the stools along the soda fountain service counter are visible on the left side of the picture. The second photograph shows the opposite side of the store from the first photograph. Shelves and a display case that appears to contain boxes of cigars are visible on the left side of the picture, and the soda fountain and service counter are visible near the middle of the picture. More shelves are visible along the back wall of the store. The third photograph shows a different view with more of the shelves and display cases to the left of the soda fountain counter visible. Various items are partially visible on the shelves and cases.

A Clock's Spring Mechanism from 14CT380
Date: 1900-1965
This clock's spring mechanism was recovered in 1995 during an archeological salvage project undertaken by Kansas Historical Society archeologists at a Chautauqua County farmstead. The clock spring controlled the wheels to keep accurate time. Such clocks required periodic winding. This mechanism would have been for a mantle or table top sized clock.

These fifteen photographs show Adaline Beedle Sorace, author of Addie of the Flint Hills, at various periods in her life. The first photograph is Addie at age sixteen. While the next four images have her attending nursing school at Bell Memorial Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. Images six through ten show Addie with her friends from Matfield Green, Kansas, and a view of the high school in Matfield Green. Images eleven and twelve show Addie with unidentified friends. The last three images have her with members from the Jr. Century Club in Matfield Green.

This is a photograph of the administration building at the Kansas Women's Industrial Farm in Lansing, Kansas. In 1916, this facility was established, and, for a year, it was a branch of the men's prison at the Kansas State Penitentiary in Leavenworth County. In 1917, it began operating as a separate, satellite unit. The Industrial Farm was under the supervision of the State Board of Administration before coming under the control of the Board of Penal Institutions, which was eventually reorganized as the Department of Corrections. It housed women who had committed crimes against the state. In 1980, the facility became co-correctional and the name was changed to the Kansas Correctional Institution at Lansing in 1983.

A photograph showing the administration building at the Osawatomie State Hospital in Osawatomie, Kansas. The hospital was established by the State of Kansas in 1866 and had beds for 12 patients when it opened. By the end of the next year it housed 22 with applications for 50 more.
